18F86K22 and RS232
PostPosted: Mon May 30, 2011 5:49 pm     Reply with quote

I have used RS232 on many different devices. All without an issue. I usually use a MAX232A to do the interfacing but sometimes a FET. But this time I am using a MAX232A. Exact same circuit as always BUT for some reason I am not getting things to go right to the computer. I am getting something but it is not the right chars when it gets to the computer. I am using a verified cable and I can see that the data is coming out of the TX line from the PIC. Just wondering if anyone has has issues with this chip. I am using 9600 baud 8,n,1. Very simple. I have even cut everything else out of my code and am making a simple loop to just send something out the RS232 every 2 seconds. It is driving me crazy!!! Any help would be great. Thanx

You need to post your version on this type of question.
Assuming it's an earlier version, here is one possible bug and the solution:
