USB & Windows Blue Screen
PostPosted: Tue Mar 11, 2008 2:44 am     Reply with quote

Hi to all,

I'm facing a strange behavior. I'm using CCS's USB bulk transfer + Microchip's USB driver. When trying to transfer data buffers >= 128 bytes (for ex) some of the PCs crash (blue screen) and others work perfect.

Any ideas/suggestions?
I think it's a major issue Shocked

Check if the faulty machines have a Via chipset.
I have had problems in the past, with intermittent failures on the CCS code, with Windows hanging, or blue screening, on machines using some of the Via chipsets. I have also recently had problems in Vista, on machines with the Intel P35 chipset. In the former case, getting the latest Via chipset drivers instead of the version that comes with Windows, fixed the problem, while in the latter case, going _back_ to the Intel driver from last year fixed the problems. The latter chipset was showing 'oddities' with other devices than the CCS stuff.

Best Wishes

I had the same problem... but not with CCS or Microchip drivers. I was building my own specific driver starting with the microsoft usb sample. I was impressed that when i tried to check the maximum speed that pic to pc can handle. And ofcourse, when i tried to use an endpoint of 256 or two of 128, in few seconds of running, i got BSOD. Didnt know who to blame, mostly i thought that microsoft sample code was bugged. Didnt thought about USB OEM HAL intel drivers... coz my camera and usb dongle does work Smile
