IDCU-40 Firmware Compatible?

Hi all
I have three ICDU-40s two have version 01.39 firmware and one has V 02.16.
I have look at the hardware in each of the ICDU-40 and they all look the same.
18F252 ect.
The ICDs with 01.39 firmware can not be updated to the 02.16 firmware why is that.
The update firmware indicates that 01.39 is the only compatible for this ICD?
What change in the ICD hardware to change the firmware compatible change?

Bootloader is not compatable.

Hello Darren,

I have the same oddity, but if the only difference is the bootloader then it must be possible to reprogram the bootloader to the newer version, or is there something else to be consider ??
