IDE: Autocomplete for members of struct - pointer access ?
PostPosted: Sun Oct 13, 2024 3:39 am     Reply with quote

Hello,
is here any chance, that IDE is able to recognize (autocomplete via CTRL+space) members of object (structure) accessed via pointer ? This one is working only for non-pointer access to the object (structure).
Thanks.

See simple example.
Code:
typedef struct {
 u8 *buf;
 u8 tm;
} tTest;

tTest tObj;

void main()
{
   u8 l_buf[8];
   tTest* pTest = &tObj;

   pTest->buf = l_buf;             // <- autocomplete here
   pTest->tm = 0;                  // <- autocomplete here

I think you would have to ask CCS, but it is unlikely. As far as the IDE is
concerned, it is a pointer, and it does not know 'what to'. That was a feature
that Visual Studio used not to do, but was added about ten years ago.
CCS might well consider adding it to a future update, if you point this out.
