Infrared parts inquiry

This post is a bit off topic, even though the circuit does include a PIC. I'm searching for a good matched pair of infrared emitter & transistor. They both need to be thru-hole components with the transistor in a TO-18 case. I'm sure that there's a few good folks here that's done a project or two utilizing them.

I will be using the pair to detect something interrupting the light hitting the transistor. They will be approximately 7 inches apart and the transistor will be driving a comparator.

I've looked at several components but I thought I would ask here to make sure I was able to find the best solution.
