New project: LCD module drivable via Bluetooth |

Hello,
for a new project I'm looking for a LCD module that can be driven via BLuetooth, via a PC. So actually serially.
Normally a LCD module is only drivable via a microcontroller via it's data and control lines. I'm looking for a module that has it all, a soort of screen/LCD that you can control via BT.
If this does not exist, this is going to be my next project; a BT module, probably some PIC µC and an LCD module.
Anyone has got some ideas?

So I can assume that module does not exist as an end product. Also can't find any information on the internet.. |

I think this solution exists in two separate products that one could combine:
- BT modules acting transparently as a serial RS232 wire.
- an LCD module with an (add-on) RS-232 interface.
anyway, it will be much cheaper and edifying if you would build your own. |

I have tried these BT v. 2.0 modules: Link: Bluegiga , the WT12 model. they work with simple alphabetic ASCII commands, and also have a data transparent operating mode.
NB: these modules are quite small in size, fine SMD soldering (and some fine prototype PCB manufacturing) is required, so the hardware part is not for a beginner hobbyist. (i suggest to look for an evaluation board, or a more ready-assembled end-product.) |

Thanks for your input, I'll sure look at your implementations. I took a quick peak at the first and that seemed to be a BGA chip?
Atm students here are implementing this one: http://www.ezurio.com/products/bism/
I don't know if there are any cheaper solutions as this? This one costs 50€ per piece. It also has audio which is not needed for our application. Anyone has got experience with these modules? |
