Special I2C routine for 12CE518 internal EEPROM
PostPosted: Tue Nov 13, 2001 2:35 pm     Reply with quote

Does CCS have an I2C routine specicfically written to access the EEPROM memory on 12CE518's? Has anybody tried the standard I2C routines for this job with any success? I'm getting ready to port the Microchip ASM code into a C function, and don't want to reinvent the wheel here.

Not asked: WHAT was microchip smoking when they decided to access internal EEPROM memory with an I2C routine???

I suppose the answer is yes. There are pre-defined I2C functions that are used to read and write I2C. These are the main reason I started using this compiler. There is an example file, CE51x.c, in the Drivers subdirectory that shows how to use the I2C functions to access the EEPROM in the CE51X parts. It is essentially a driver include file. Just include this file and use the functions to access the EEPROM.

... and then giving us only .5k or 1k to access it with!?! ;-)
