Formatting sd card
PostPosted: Mon Apr 14, 2008 9:21 am     Reply with quote

Hi everybody,

I'm trying to use the ccs FAT driver, on a SD card.

I've seen in the driver posted on this forum that the card has to be formatted with 512 bytes sector.

Do I need to do that with the CCS fat driver ???

(CCS v4 + MPLAB + 18LF4620)

thanks

Yes, the card has to formatted with a sector size of 512 bytes but that is a fixed value for FAT file systems anyway and can't be changed. What can be changed is the cluster size and this will be chosen depending on the size of your memory card. See also: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314878

Basically: nothing to worry about and you can format the cards from Windows using the default settings.
