8-pin alignment in prototyping board
PostPosted: Sun Oct 28, 2007 9:23 pm     Reply with quote

I have the CCS Software Prototyping Board (version 7 stamped on the board) with a 28-pin adapter for the 40-pin ZIF socket to allow me to program 28-pin devices. I am using the ICD Control Program V2.49 with the ICD-U40 adapter and USB port connection. This has worked great for the 16Fxxx and 18Fxxx devices I've programmed, debugged, read, etc.

I have some 12F675 devices that I want to program and I have a question:
How do I position the 8-pin DIP chip in the 28-pin adapter or 40-pin ZIF socket for programming? The 28-pin adpater makes it pretty obvious to the orientation and the prototyping board has "Pin 1" stamped on it so you can tell orientation. I could find nothing for the 8-pin orientation, though.

Thanks for any help.

I do not have the Prototype Board that you refer, but knowing which pins of the 12F675
are assigned for programing it, it is a matter of a single continuity test to know if the ZIF
socket can hold the device. If you have a mismatch between the ZIF socket with the
device footprint, you still can insert the PIC in a protoboard and wire it accordingly
from the ZIF socket.

In the following link you will find the dedicated pins descriptions and packages to
programm the 12F675.
