PICDEM 4 LCD

Some body know how to use the LCD in a PICDEM 4 boar, it has a 16lf72 as a I/O expander connected to a 2x16 parallel LCD, but i don't know how it works, and this 16lf72 can't be read o reprogrammed.

I can't find any documentation on that I/O Expander PIC. That means
the only example is the sample ASM code that comes with the board.
It can also be downloaded on the Microchip website. However, I looked
at that code, and the comments are not always correct.

I think a driver could be written for the board with careful study of the
ASM code and the schematic. But if I owned that board, I would return
it for a refund.

I found out this kind of problems before I post my question, but think that some body (in special PCM programmer) could help me.

Well any way, I can't return this board, it was bought by my company, although I can buy any other dem board, which one do you recommend?
