Best serial comms program for PC?
PostPosted: Wed Jul 18, 2007 3:02 am     Reply with quote

What would people recommend using for serial comms with a PIC?
Currently using hyperterminal, but it keeps freezing up on me.

Anyone got any other recommendations?

Look at "Terminal". It's free, easy to use and with some possibilities.
Here is the links : http://bray.valenje.cx (sometime the server is out, in this case let me know with your email address).

Have a nice day.

Hyperterm is quirky so take care in assuming the PIC is at fault if a char doesn't show up. CCS siow is great.

Terminal is great ,,but not in high speed transfering cause its buffer overflows so quick .and its so hard to read the display and sometimes whole the program hangs during recieve the data that is sent .but its so fine with lower baud rate 9600 and also small amount of packets .

I suggest using Herculus Setup ,if u dont want to lose any data in higher baud rates.

The link provided to the Br@y++ Terminal above is an older version. The newest version I could find is v1.9b 2004-12-26, note how only the date has changed but there are some serious improvements.

Greetings,

Try TeraTerm
http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA002416/teraterm.html

TeraTerm has a nice macro feature and supports telnet, VT100, serial, SSL. It even has a pocketPC version available.

Cheers,

SIOW is my favorite.

Try redownloading or reinstalling your CCS. It should be there.
