Hi,
I am using a 18F2550 PIC and would like to set up the timer so that it counts to a 16 bit number, and takes an external clock. How do I do this?
if I leave out - > RTCC_8_BIT from the setup_timer0(mode) is it automatically 16 bit?
thanks

Yes, that's right.

Look in the .H file for your PIC. In the Timer0 (RTCC) section, it lists
the constants that can be used with the setup_timer_0() function.
You will see the constants that allow you to specify External clock mode.
