Hi,

I'm trying to understand some code and there is a declaration:

Code:
volatile byte k=0;


What does the word volatile mean? I cannot find it in the CCS C manual.

It is defined in K&R but it is meaningless in CCS C. It means the value could change at any time due to an interrupt or some other thread running, so it should not be cached.
