Problem in understanding a code

Hi guys can you help me with this fragment of code

h.Length = (WORD)((WORD)p->TxCount + (WORD)sizeof(UDP_HEADER));

I don't understand the function of "word" in this. What does it do?

(WORD) is used for casting other data types to a WORD type.
