Hi,
I want to use the PIC16F876 A/D in 10 bit mode. Can any one help me with the external reference. What is external reference and How to connect it to the PIC. Any relevent site from which I can get the information.

Look at the chip's data sheet, and AN693.
Note the formula in the latter, which shows how the output relates to the reference, and the first diagram in the A/D section of the former, which shows how the 'reference' is connected.
