I need to know why this statement will compile
#byte PLC_AN1=PLC_RELE_START+1+PLC_ANC
and this
#byte PLC_AN1=PLC_RELE_START+(1+PLC_ANC)
return the following error:
Expression must be a constant or simple variable
PCM programmer

It looks like the CCS parser gives an error if it sees any parentheses
in a #byte statement. For example, this fails to compile:
Code:

#byte PortA = (5)

The work-around is just to avoid using parentheses.
