Could external reference higher than Vcc ?
PostPosted: Sun Oct 29, 2006 8:45 pm     Reply with quote

I use 16f877 10-bit A/D converter. I use that A/D with an external reference.
Could external reference higher than Vcc ?
maybe I need external reference as 5.1v while vcc is 5.0v.
thanks in advance!

Basically, for more extreme voltages, no.
However, with 5.1v, possibly.
In the data sheet.'Voltage VRefH. Normally max AVdd+0.3v. So for 5.1v, with a 5v supply, it should be OK.

Best Wishes
