Version 4 and Version 3 question
PostPosted: Tue Aug 29, 2006 10:31 am     Reply with quote

Can Version 4 and 3 be installed on the same system ?

I happy with PCWH Version 3.249 and would like to see what version 4 is all about.

I remember back to the nightmare days when PCH was being developed, finally had to give up on PCH and complete the project with a Rabbit module.

So I've decided to keep using (V3.249) and let Version 4 mature, but would like to dabble with V4 just to keep up to date, and perhaps do the occasional non-critical small project with it.

Yes. The V4 install, will insist on writing some stuff during the installation to the Program Files/PICC directory, but the final result can be installed into another directory, and 'run in parallel'. Everybody testing is probably doing just that. At present, even small projects can on some processors not work at all....
If you want to integrate to MPLAB, you will have to change the code directories etc., in the settings for this.

Best Wishes

Thanks.
Sounds like I need to stick with 3.249 for serious work !
