Buying pre version 4 compiler |

I'm not sure if I should ask CCS this or post it here.
I've a personal training allowance from work to buy software with. But it runs out at the end of september 2006.
I'm using ccs PCWH v3.234 compiler at work and want to buy ccs for my self at home to learn with.
Looking at all the bugs with v4 though I'd rather
go for v3.xxx ccs compiler. Is it still possible to buy PCWH V3.xxx compiler from anywhere? I won't be able to afford maintenence for v4
myself to keep up with all the updates.
Thanks _________________ Tim |

Thanks PCM programmer,
Isn't this just for updates though?
I want to buy PCWH V3.249 to use at home. _________________ Tim |

There is no "download manager" with partial updates for version 3.xxx.
When you download it off that page, you get the full compiler, drivers,
examples, all of it. You do have to get a registration file emailed to
you by CCS, though. You get that when you buy the compiler, or
soon after. |

Dear PCM programmer,
I do not have a maintenence contract so I can't do any
downloads. I just get the error "ref number not valid"
My 30 days of updates ran out long ago.
Do you know any third party suppliers who still sell v3? _________________ Tim |

PCM means when you buy CCS compiler then they will give you the rights to download any 3.xxx version and probably(not sure) the version4 as well for 30 days. At least thats my interpretation. |

Thanks Grasspuddle, If I buy any PCWH compiler I should be
able to download the v3.xxx versions on my 30 day updates.
I see what you mean!
I think thats what PCM programmer was saying, thinking about it.
It's finally clicked!

That's not true. You can't download any version of 3.xxx.
You can only download the one that's listed on the download page:
http://www.ccsinfo.com/compilerupdates.php
Currently, that's vs. 3.249. You can also download the latest version
of 4.xxx, which is also on that page. And of course, you can only
download the compiler that you bought. For example, if you bought
the command-line PCH compiler, you can only download it and nothing
else. |

I just got a reply from ccs and they confirmed I can download v3 if I buy v4. A little embarasing telling them I didn't want v4 yet though.
Thanks for your help. _________________ Tim |

V4 registration files |

Hi there,
I've gone and bought v4 PCWH and got my updates enabled.
I've downloaded v3.249 ok.
CCS havn't sent me the pcb.crg,pch.crg,pcm.crg though. I've
asked them to send me them again in case they forgot.
Do I need these new .cfg files to continue using the compiler?
It all seems to work ok with the old ones from the cd rom.
It just says it's not registered. Though they've enabled my
downloads. - Will it cease to work after so long?
I ask here rather than CCS because I'm in the uk and ccs are
6 hours behind so I never get a response until I come into work
the next day, and I want to start using it today.
Thanks for viewing,
Tim. _________________ Tim |
