Compiler Select disappeared |

I was working on a project last thursday with CCS and a PIC 16F688 then MPLAB started playing up.
Fixed that and I am now trying to get CCS to work with the PIC again, both 16F688 an 16F877.
But for some reason my compiler drop down has disappeared so I cannot compile, comes up with the "Access Violation..." error.
I have checked my reg files and they are present in the directory.
Nothing has changed since last Thursday (well to do with CCS anyway, I have upgraded to MPLAB 7.41 but shouldnt interfere with CCS??)
Any help would be gratefully received.

One rule-of-thumb:
Project is working properly...
Make some changes....
Project no longer works...
Whatever you changed has caused things to not work properly even though they 'should not' affect it.
Undo what you did to get it working again or figure out why the changes screwed it up. Apparently, the MPLAB upgrade has caused your problem. If that's the only thing that has changed there's no other possibility. Maybe try re-installing CCS. This might reload something that MPLAB messed up.

I cant believe that in this day and age we still have to reinstall programs to get them to work!!
There must be some other way around this?
I mean does MPLAB not talk to CCS when it uses one of their compilers?
Why would it stop my CCS compiler that I had to PAY money for stop working because I upgraded to another version of MPLAB that they suggested in the first place!!! |

I am now going to re install my copy of CCS PCWH following from this problem.
But I no longer have the update that I downloaded within my free 30 days of registration.
Where can I find my customer number to log into my area so that I can check if I can get the original update that I once had??
Hope this is not too confusing!! |

After upgrading MPLAB you have to install the CCS-MPLAB plugin again, did you do that?
Most likely you don't have to re-install CCS, just the MPLAB plugin should do it. |

Good job we had a PAT bloke in, I had to shut PC down, now read emails before I reinstalled and found your reply.
Thankfully I havnt reinstalled yet.
Thanks will try that.
Is the MPLAB function just on the CD?
EDIT:-
Will doing this actually help me get over the CCS compiler issue in CCS itself? |
