How to determin cursor position from a LCD using HD4780

I'm using a 2 line 16 char. LCD with a compatible HD4780 controller chip.

It appears to me that there is no way to determine the position of the cursor, did I miss something... !

As I can set the cursor position with the "Set DDRAM address" command, I expected using "Read Busy Flag and Address" command to return the cursor position. i.e. address equals the cursor position.

Has anyone found a way to extract the cursor position from a 2 line x 16 char display using the HD4780 chip ?

OK it worked. The LCD controller chip is slooooow !
