I've been using a 16F628 for a while with no problems. Just got some 16F628A parts and I can program them!! I've used the serial ISD and also a PICALL programmer with no luck. Anybody out there used an A part yet? Or have any idea why it won't work?
Thanks!!

Hi.
Does your programmer support the "A" part?
We used to use 16LF876, but then we couldn't get them, so had to use the "A" parts. PICStart (at the time) didn't support them, so we had to go out and get a Warp13 programmer.
(This was a relief TBH, we could finally ditch MPLAB!)
Pete.

We've used the CCS ICD software on a serial ICD. Also used a picall programmer. Both of these support the 628A, so I can't understand whats up with the part? The same exact circuit works fine with the non-A part, then swap it out for the A part and it won't program. We've tried 3 different parts, but it's a new part and not sure if many people have messed with it.

The programming specifications are different. I didn't
compare them in detail, but the F628 has the "Bulk Erase Setup
1 and 2" commands, but the F628A does not. There might be
other differences.

Both programmers will erase and verify the part as blank. But neither will program the part?
Has anyone out there ever used a 628A part....?
