Run PCM Compiler in PCWH IDE
PostPosted: Sat Jul 08, 2006 11:58 am     Reply with quote

I have both PCM and PCWH.

I was running PCM in MPLAP with plug-in.

My question is I still need to use MPLAP when developing 16F series program? Or I can run PCM in the my newly purchased PCWH IDE?

PCWH includes the PCM compiler. Notice in this screenshot of PCWH
that it's being used to create a program for the 16F877:

So the answer is: No, you don't need MPLAB if you have PCWH.

If you use PCWH as your IDE, you must use (typically) the ICD-U40
as your debugger. You can't use the Microchip ICD2 with PCWH.

Thks for your reply.

I tested it with the following steps:

(1) typed a file "test.c" as per sample in your graphic file
(2) manually craeted project and selected test.c as main file
(3) select 16f877 as device
(4) compiled it

I got the following prompt for the IDE:

Unable to write to C:\Program\PCWH\PICC\Quick Start\Test.pjt.

Could you pls help me to fix this problem?

Thks

p/s Yes. I purchased ICD-U40 from CCS as well, do you have any quick start guide?
