I was wondering if anyone can tell me how can I program the pic16F877A using picstart plus(firmware version 4.20.03).

Are you asking how to use the PicStart-Plus ?

Download the User's Guide from Microchip. It has instructions:

I know how to use the picstart plus.I problem is since pic16F877A is an 40 pin microcontroller there some problem arises when you want to program the pic16F877A using picstart plus.

In the MPLAB software I setup the device to be pic16F877A and setup the configuration bit (Oscillator=HS since I am using a 20MHZ clock.Watchdog Timer=off,Power UP=off,Brown out=off,low voltage program=disabled,Flash Program write=off,Data EE Read protect=off,Code Protect=off).But when I want to erase a new 16F877A I just bought couple of days ago and then do a blank check and then it tells me that

Device is NOT blank:
Program Memory
Configuration Bits
IDs
Data Memory


I don't understand why?Any help would be greatly appreciated.I have been banging my head for the past two days but I have not been able to figure out what I am doing wrong.My picstart plus works fine when I use pic16F84 but I cannot program nor can I erase my pic16F877A using Picstart plus.
