#inline
PostPosted: Fri May 26, 2006 12:12 pm     Reply with quote

Hi,
I am wondering in what cases the #inline directive is effective in what case it is not. Is there is maximum number of instruction to respect if we want an inline function to really be inline?
I timed (w/ oscilloscope) two version of a function, one really inlined and the other one specified inline with #inline, and the difference shows that the inline is not taking into account.
Thank you.
Charles.

Look at the .LST file to see the difference. The program will go to
to the non-inlined function with a CALL or a GOTO, and returns with
a RETURN or a GOTO (respectively). The amount of time required to
do this is very little. You might not notice it on your oscilloscope.
