Did you read the datasheet?

Hi Mark

I have looked at the data sheet but it does not tell me the range in feet (or meters) of the system.

I was wondering if Bluetooth has a range, or does it depend on the chips usd?

Thank you

Hi,

Why don't you ask the manufacturers ?? , you could also tell them to provide this information on the datasheet.

thanks

A Class 1 BT device has a range about 100 meters, Class 2 bluetooth's range is about 10 meters.

Hi Libor

I am new to this- the Class 1BT you refer to- what protocol does it use? and can you recommend some chip sets that I can use to transmit over 100m of open field? (Direct line of sight)

Thank you

A couple of years ago I had researched the possibility of adding a Bluetooth chipset to one of my products. I have contacted TI (one of the major manufactureres of teh BT chips) and they told me that I need to get the approval of the BT SIG before they sell me the chips. At that point I gave up. May be things are easier today.

However, there are tones of BT modules, which are much more friendly then BT chipsets. For example:

Also, serch this forum for "Bluetooth module".

Hi Kender

Thank you for the web pages- I am beginning to understand.

I will definately go with the module.

Just for clarification:
If I want to transmit over say 100meter and I want to use for e.g. the BlueStamp on http://www.blueradios.com/hardware.htm
will I need TWO modules? (One as a receiver and one as a transmitter?)

Once again thank you
Regards
