Program seems to "fly" off the chip |

This has been an intermittant problem that I've seen now with two unrelated projects (different boards, PICs and software).
I program the chip- 16F877A with ICProg, the chip works for a long while. Then I make some wiring change to the circuitry, yes, while the power is off, and no more code in the chip.
BTW when I reprogram everything is fine again.
What's up with that? Is there a reset in the chip that I'm hitting with my soldering iron?
Thanks in advance-

Check that you have LVP disabled or, if LVP is required, ensure the LVP enable PIN is not floating. Static voltage around a circuit with LVP enabled and the LVP Enable pin not having a low enough termination resistance can put the PIC into program mode. In my opinion the LVP implementation is flawed with PICs _________________ Regards, Andrew
