Problem with HEX file
PostPosted: Tue Feb 14, 2006 3:50 am     Reply with quote

I have a problem when generating a HEX file. when i compile a program, the PIC C Compiler appends the line ";PIC16F876" to the HEX text.
However, the PIC burner i'm using doesnt like that line, and i have to delete it everytime i want to burn the PIC.
Is there some kind of setting in the compiler to prevent this from happening?

I'm afraid not.
The line is legitimate Intel Hex (the format originally defined that any line _not_ beginning with a ':', should be ignored - unfortunately, many of the abridged 'defintions' on the web, miss this bit, and quite a few programmers based on these will then complain). There was a long thread about this quite a while ago, and I'd suspect the easiest solution might be a little program to strip any line that doesn't start with a :....

Best Wishes
