Tutorial on visual basic comms port application?

Pointers prevents the data,variables to move around and is a better way in c/C++ programming.
Y is unsuitable in microprocesssor especially with ccs picc compiler? Confused

Can anyone posts good tutorial on visual basic comm.ports application coz i wanted to create an interface whereby i keep reading temperature from PIC,send it through comm.port,create GUI, display the results and plot it.
