RTOS

Hi,
If RTOS is multi tasking, then can you program the micro and add an another program into the micro and use the main program to pick up the other program and multi task with. Confused

ie, have the main program to setup the input, types, timers, comms, output, etc and then add another compiled program into the micro that will determin how the input, timers etc will control the outputs etc. Confused

depending on the micro size, can we say on a 4 input to 4 output program their perameters on the main program and then have 4 independent program to program each input to drive the output based on (value)
even have say 1 input as an analog input and drive each (4) output on x % value of the input.

I guess I want to offer a unit to my Future customers that you can program how you want this unit to work. ( I would be looking at writing a small basic program for the PC to program the unit with) Rolling Eyes

This is really not what an rtos is for. You want a bootloader. An rtos is simply a nice way to manage tasks inside a program. Really its just a program framework, which you add your own functionality to.

Also, there is no reason you cant upload a program with an rtos using a bootloader.

If you want your customers to be able to program the device themselves, its probably going to need some kind of bootloader anyway.
