Blown up ICD40 component
PostPosted: Mon Oct 10, 2005 7:49 am     Reply with quote

Hi,
I've managed to blow up one of my ICDU40 ICDs. The component burn out is a SOT23 device in the top right corner inbetween two diodes.
Does anyone know what this is? Looks like a surface mount transistor with KE2 and LO written on it, a quick google has failed to identify it. Any ideas?

Actually it's only got two pads connected and it next to the 78L12 voltage regulator so it's probably a diode in a 3pin SOT23 case? Anyway it is cracked through the middle so it took a little bit too much current!

Do you have any relays that click on when you apply power?

This happens to me quite frequently with Microchip's ICD-2, but not with the ICDU40

I do have relays, yes, 3 infact. The blown part is a zener diode.

I've just had an email back from CCS with the part number and supplier. Amazing service from CCS. I was half expecting "send it back no user servisable parts" and was surprised.

I need it back up and running ASAP as I have two PICs on the board and debug them simultaniosuly with two ICDs and two PCs!

Keep well
