As I am writing this, my CCS-C compiler program is completely locked up. I have XP and Version 3.224. I can't get task manager to "end now". The bar at the top of CCS says "PCW C Compiler IDE (Not Responding)" I have to shut my computer off to shut the program down. Anyone else see this or have a fix? Thanks.

Actually, since I upgraded from win 89 2nd ed to win xp, I've found that it takes about 1 minute from the time I hit the "X" to close CCS until it actually closes. Under win 98, it closed immediately.

What happens if you wait a little while? Does it close on its own?

No, I let it sit there 1/2 hour. I finally held in the power button to turn the computer off. Other programs seem to run while CCS is locked up.

Why don't you try uninstalling and re-installing. If your re-install still doesn't work, then your Windows registry might be screwed up, and the troubleshooting it would be beyond the scope of this forum.

Until you fix your MS problem, in the meantime, you can use MPLAB 7.20 (the latest).

It's very easy to set up a project. And don't forget to select your "Language Tool Suite" under 'Project'. You will need the downloadable MPLAB plug-in from the CCS website.

Even when I was using PCW at the place i was consulting at, I always used MPLAB. I guess it's just that i'm more used to it.
