International Fonts
PostPosted: Thu Jul 21, 2005 4:39 pm     Reply with quote

Yeah, this is quite a ways off the focus of this forum, but . . .

I have a project where I need to display messages in a wide variety of languages, ranging from to Chinese to Korean, to Dutch, to Arabic and more. We are using a graphic lcd that does not have a character generator so we will be generating all of our characters in firmware.

My question is: Can anybody point me to a site(s) that have bit map international fonts. I've spent several hours searching but have not turned over that stone with the "mother lode" of fonts. I don't know what resolution is required, but some of the Japanese characters look like they could use 16x16 pixels or more.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,
Charlie

Fontgen. You display it. It makes a data file for it.
Usesable with ccs with a little modification. (no pointer to const)

treitmey,

Thanks very much for the link!!!!

This looks like it will work supremely. There is a new version that was posted recently that supports unicode fonts, and it appears that it supports most, if not all of the characters that we need. We have a pdf file with the international text, and we can just copy and paste it into the fontgen program and presto, it generates the include file for the text. Absolutely too cool!!!

Thanks again!

Charlie
