Is the RTL8019 in the driver folder an IC or a card

Hi,

Is the RTL8019 mentioned in the RTL8019.c file (in drivers folder of CCS C 0compiler; PCM type) an IC or a card.

Both - if you look at the minimal configuration of a card (such as the sample schematics) with this chip you will see that it is the same as talking to the chip. I developed my first project with this chip by using a card and then striping off all the components that were not needed. There was no code change between the implementations. HOWEVER be aware that certain features of this chip require an EEPROM (configuring LED behaviour, full duplex operation etc..) If you do not plan to use an EEPROM (I don't) and you do not plan to emulate the EEPROM (I don't do this either) then you have to live with these limitations.
