Problem with PIC18F8722 in Debug mode!!!
PostPosted: Wed Jul 06, 2005 8:02 am     Reply with quote

I have a problem to run PIC18F8722 in Debug mode. It is not hardware problem because by now I use PIC18F8585 on the some board and everithing was ok. Now I have 2 boards with 18F8722 and 1 board with 18F8585. On board with 18F8585 everithing is all right, but on boards with 18F8722 processors don't have to work in debug mode.

Version of MPLAB IDE - 7.20

Version of firmware - 01.02.05.00

Bootloader version - 01.01.01.00

Do someone have an idea about my problem?

I remember a similar issue been posted about a month ago where the problem was solved by disabling the power-up timer.

For more hints, read http://www.ccsinfo.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=22318

I then looked at the ICD2 Read Me on microchip.com.... and I found this:

- You may not be able to enter debug mode if power-up timer is
enabled for the following devices:
* PIC18F4620/4610/2620/2610
* PIC18F4680/2680/4681/2681
* PIC18F4550/2550/4455/2455
* PIC18F8490/8410/6490/6410/8390/8310/6390/6310

You'll notice the 18LF2520 is not in that list, but I figured, why not try turning that off? Sure enough, problem solved.

I don't worry any more about this problem. Thank you again!
