Time to write to Internal EEPROM?
PostPosted: Fri Jul 01, 2005 8:55 am     Reply with quote

Hi

In general how long does it take to write 1 byte of data to internal EEPROM (both PIC time and "write" time)?
I am interested in the shortest time, and the lowest current consumption. Can someone please direct me to the best PIC for this?

Thank you in advance.
Regards

Look at the data sheets. Generally, all are close to the 'same', 4mSec typically. It is in the section 'memory programming requirements'.
Generally, the write to the internal progra memory is slightly quicker (especially on some of the newer larger chips), but you then have to add the time to erase the row, before reprogramming, which makes the timing longer, and the 'life' of the memory in terms of write cycles is a lot worse.
If you need high speed, consider an external FRAM.

Best Wishes
