PIC Memory after shutdown

I am curious if any PICs have the ability to store any information (variables, states, etc) indefinitely after powerdown (When Vdd is removed). An example of a system that can do this is an mp3 player that remembers what song you were listening to and at what point in the song it currently was at even after being shut down for an arbitrary amount of time. In my current project I would like to be able to save certain variable states, but haven't seen any documentation on this feature, if PICs even have it. Anyone know?

See the last post in this thread. It has code that shows how to
save a value to the PIC's data eeprom (i.e., internal eeprom)
and restore it upon power-up.
