Data Stream decoding
PostPosted: Fri Apr 29, 2005 2:54 am     Reply with quote

Hello folks hope you are all well,
If I wanted to send three elements of data, say two temperature readings and a another value from one pic to another via an RS232 CRC packet data system. Could this be sent as one packet stream and decoded so the receving pic knows which piece of data is which or would it probably be better to send each piece of data on its own, this would not be time critical for the receiver as it would just be waiting for the new data to display it, it could (but probably not) be time critical though for the tx pic.
Any thoughts people thanks in advance.

Hi Dave,

Searching in this forum you will find hundreds of posted threads regarding your
inquire, read them and I´m sure this exercise will be a good reference to
learn from.
Try searching ie:"circular buffer", "stream", "RS 232",etc.
Once you get ready to write some lines of code, post it and we will
correct, critisize and guide to help you.

Best wishes,

Humberto
