Hi, I have CCS PCM C Compiler, Version 3.004 and have foolishly dropped in a newer (pic16f819) into my latest job. The problem is there isn't a header file for this pic. Does my compilier support this pic? if not do I have to purchase a new compiler?
Thanks! |

You have to buy an update. Your compiler is old enough, that it has quite a few known bugs anyway (though rather less than on the PCH compiler...), and quite a few improvements have been made since (streams etc.), so an upgrade is probably worthwhile anyway. A PCM upgrade is $99, and will also give you downloadable further upgrades for a year.
The header alone does nothing (you can write these yourself), the devices that are 'supported', are defined in the 'devices.dat' file, and in the program itself.
The 819, is quite a nice chip, so having the ability to use this and other latter chips is probably worthwhile. :-)
Best Wishes |
