What do you do with these? Do you leave them, hook up a resistor to ground, or just straight ground them?

The cheapest way is to leave them hanging and configure them as OUTPUTs. Doesn't matter whether you drive them high or low.
I've also been told that it would be good to either pull them up or pull them down with a resistor (10Kohm is okay), and leave them as INPUTS.
I usually leave such pins dangling and configuring them as outputs.
If you ask Microchip tech support they'll also give you both choices.

I don't know if it still exists, but their was/is a document somewhere on the Texas Instruments website www.ti.com called "Designing With Logic". Chapter 3 covers input termination. _________________ David
