Compiler 3.217 debug error?
PostPosted: Sun Jan 23, 2005 10:17 pm     Reply with quote

Ok I was running all compilers from before time up to 3.217.
With 3.215 and 3.216, my 18F2620 hardware, I was able to compile and debug using the ICD-U40 from the windows IDE with out problems.
When I updated to 3.217 the code would compile with on problems. But then when I open the debugger it will start to load but then it will open the programming verification error window with over 256 errors.
The interesting thing is that when I reload 3.216 and run the debugger with out recompiling program the debugger will load and run the 3.217 program with out a problem.

Let me know what you guys fine with 3.217.

Same thing by me. ICD-U with 3.217 could not program 18F2620 any more, verification error.
I came to a solution that the chip configuration data was corrupted, I edited the 18F2620 config data with chipedit.exe, changed the Tools -> Programming parameter from 18F_45...something to 18FXX20, it works now for me, though I dont know whether it is the best setting.

Very Happy Hi folks,

now I get an answer from CCS. We have to upgrage the ICD software from the CCS down load page to version V1.35 to be able to program and debug the 18F2620 and all the other new PICs. I will try it tonight.

In the meantime I got a new 18F252 which can still be programmed with the old version.

Furthermore Microchip is offering an s.c. PUM "PIC-Upgrade-Kit" for their programmer PICSTART.

Best Regards

I to have had problems regarding this, but I can't seem find firmware v1.35 anywhere. Downloading the new ICD-U software just gives me the v1.33.

I received the v.1.35 upgrade in an email from CCS support answering my problem in 24 hours. They said it is still Beta. I think it will be available soon, but I think you can write them asking if in a hurry.

Okey, thanks.
I'll wait until the release... have some studying to do while waiting.
