ICD-s software corrupts MPLAB?
PostPosted: Sun Dec 19, 2004 8:19 am     Reply with quote

I found that installing ICD-S s/w corrupts MPLAB 6.xx or 7.xx - it stops importing .HEX files into the memory, probably due to registry changes for .hex extention. When I perform in MPLAB File->Import , I get the message "The format of the file xxxxx.hex can not be read or written because it extention was not recignized." - it happens after every ICD-S s/w update. MPLAB reinstalling solves the problem, but maybe someone has more elegant solution ?

try this solution which I saw at http://forum.microchip.com/tm.asp?m=64425

Quote:
- exit MPLAB IDE;
- run file, C:\Program Files\MPLAB IDE\dlls\unregister.bat;
- execute file, C:\Program Files\MPLAB IDE\RegScript\MPLABRegScript.exe;
- run file, C:\Program Files\MPLAB IDE\dlls\register.bat;
- try again to import your file into MPLAB IDE.
