IR remote for 110vDC motor speed control

IR remote for 110v DC motor speed control
Goal: control a 90v winding/115volt DC motor via IR remote control. Peak amps draw: 11. Max torque: 330. HP max .4. Use full wave bridge rectifier to convert AC to DC. Battery powered IR remote is max distance from motor: 9ft. Needed functions: Power on/off ... Motor up/down ... Increase speed/decrease speed. Noise of motor must be kept to a minimum.

Seriously, safely controlling a motor of this power/voltage, is not really a 'novice' project. Anything over 50v, is potentially a 'dangerous' voltage. Buy an off the shelf voltage controlled motor speed controller, and generate the control voltage for this from a PIC. Look at the Sony IR encoder/decoder chips, which do the hard work of handling an IR stream. In all honesty, the easiest way to do the transmitter, will be to buy a cheap programmable IR remote control, and only build the reciver yourself.

which though designed for much higher currents, shows just how much circuitry is involved in such controllers.
