How can I use 16c745
PostPosted: Thu Nov 18, 2004 10:07 am     Reply with quote

I want to develope a usb application, and I find out that this 16c745 might be the chip I should use. however, what other items should I buy, like the usb cable, and what is the usb interface part, and how this part connects with 16c745?

You would pick the one associated with the version of Windows you expect to use. Note that the Windows 98 DDK is "retired" and no longer supported by Microsoft. The Windows 2000 DDK is also retired but is still supported.

Only the DDK Suite 3 kit is available. It is available for purchase seperately or as part of a MSDN (Microsoft System Developer's Network) subscription.

In either case, it costs money.

The JW package is a windowed ceramic DIP. You need a UV (ultra violet) light chip eraser. Ebay sometimes has nice ones for a few buck. Otherwise Google around for terms like "UV eraser" and "erasing EPROM". Digikey, Mouse, Newark, Allied, Jameco probably have things in their catalogs.

It is possible but not practical to just leave the chip expose to direct sun light to erase but that will take a VERY LONG time. A good erasing unit can get the job done in 20 to 40 minutes.

I use a Datarase II from Walling Co.. Is is cheap but does the job in under 15 minutes. There is one on Ebay (3856251543) currently for US$7. Mine was probably under $25 new.
