There is an awesome tutorial call " Embedded C Programming and the Microchip PIC" by Barnett, Cox and Cull which includes a CD rom.
It is especially designed to teach CCS style code and takes you right through the basics with practical examples.

I found this really useful as the layout of the CCS tutorial missesd a lot of the basics out

I bought my copy on the internet for about $40.
