What MIL spec are you referring to?
I'm not aware of a MIL spec for microprocessors or microcontrollers.
In the past we have made products for aviation and aerospace.
The only thing that we were required to do is test the items to the RTCA DO-160D Environmental Conditions and Test Procedures for Airborne Equipment.
The two hard things about this testing are the vibration and the temp testing.
Vibration is issues because parts will come off the PCB and bad solder joints.
Temperature testing we would purchase 10% more industrial and or extended temp PICs then required for the job and screen all of them. The screen process would consist of a number of testing cycles with all of the PIC s through out the temperature range called out in DO-160D.
This screen process also test the other critical item the crystal.
This is not too big of an issue if you have a lab that can do it for you or you have the temp chamber.
The product was vary small with a low parts count we just did a production run with 10% over run and then tested the all of the units.

Tom,
I had MIL temp spec in mind. I checked with MCP and they don't make PIC's that go up to 150 deg C. The only available part is "E" grade which goes up to 125 deg C. Thank you for those helpful tips.
