Motor & PWM question
PostPosted: Tue Apr 06, 2004 11:44 pm     Reply with quote

When using a PWM output to control the speed of a small DC brush type motor, with what PWM period have you had good results? Think small, like ranging in size from the little pager vibrating motors up to maybe slot car or toy car size. The PWM output drives the gate of a MOSFET in series with the motor, nothing fancy like an H bridge or anything. Any suggestions or experiences, good or bad are welcome.

This kind of question is better suited to be posted in comp.arch.embedded

Anyways, i've used 32khz up to 64khz. It's up to you, whatever makes the motor run smooth.
Just make sure you don't go too low (i think like around 8 to 10khz), where you'll start hearing an audible humming.
