Dear all..this question may not be directly to pic but i wpuld like your feedback..

I have a pic project and i want to fit it in a dinrail and i would like to make a power supply in the same dinrail case with input vvoltage up to 300vdc. I want just 200mA and 5v output. I tried tto search on google but maybe i am using the wrong search word. I am using LDO Regulator. I want it compact as possible and ideally no transformer to low the cost and to be smaller.

1st check to see what commercial 'off the shelf' products are available !!!

300VDC is a serious voltage !!!
Since it is a DIN rail,there probably IS a power supply that will work.
NOT cheap BUT SAFE !!
edit.... Digikey has 1 possible version 110-300VDC, 12 vdc out@ 900ma
other suppliers may have alternatives.

Remember if you don't have a transformer you have no isolation. Potentially
very dangerous, depending what the device connects to.
That is why AC is preferred for supplies.
However some use AC to DC converters then smaller switching inverters,
so can support AC or DC. Like:

The same supply is available from lots of other suppliers.
