Yes.

You will need an IDE that supports the ICD2. MPLAB X does not.
You didn't say what IDE you are using.

We have been using MPLAB 8.92 IDE.

Here is a link for the 16F877 Development Kit we have.

Hardware only.

If you're using that IDE, then:
- Go to the Configure menu at the top of the IDE.
- Go to Select Device.
- Choose 16F877 to select that PIC.

Then it tells you what debuggers (programmers) work with that PIC
and are supported by the IDE.
