PostPosted: Tue Feb 24, 2004 7:22 pm     Reply with quote

Hi

I am trying to install the ICD u40 on windows XP.
Could someone tell me , what is the right way to install it.

My way:
-I put the ICD on usb un my PC, when it detect a new hardware
i install the ICD-U Drivers for windows (29 august 2003).

-When the drivers are installed,
I install the icu-U Software (Feb 12 2004).

After that, i try to execute ICD.exe but
i do not have the target window.

I know that my icd-u is working well, because it
is working in 1 of my 2 pc.
Now i try to install it on my laptop, is not working.

Could you help me.

ICDU

I just installed the ICDU on my XP laptop using the ICDU Kit instruction card with no problems. (Slightly different order than you did it)

When you say "target window" I assume you mean the debug window? I had to click the debug button to get this window to appear then changed the interface mode on the Debug Configure tab from ICDS to ICDU and it worked perfectly after that....

1. Created a directory on my hard drive and copied the all the software (ICDU and drivers) to it.

2. Installed the ICDU software from the new directory.

3. Powered up the ICDU with the prototype board attached

4. Connected the USB cable to the computer

5. When prompted for the drivers I pointed the driver install to the driver directory I created.

6. Rebooted the system

The ICDU had firmware 1.19 and I upgraded to 1.20 version after the install was completed. I used this same procedure on two WIN98 systems and an XP system and both worked perfectly afterward.

Hi Dyeatman

I followed your procedure, the installation in the device manager
told me that the icu u40 installation is correct.

I tried to execute icd.exe, i saw the start connection page.
i try to connect, but it is still not working.

I install the PCWH 3.168, and now, icd.exe is working! Wink Exclamation
Could you tell me why? Question

But, if i try to install PCWH3.184, is not working. Exclamation

It is wrote firmware problem.
If i need to upgrade firmware to use PCWH 3.184,
How can i do it Question

Thanks

1. Make sure you ahve the latest firmware file unzipped and ready in the CCS directory on your hard drive.
2. Open the Debug screen and select the Config tab
3. Click the right hand button on the tab that looks like a pair of crossed tools.
4. The Tools window will appear. From that window you can update fimware and run diagnostics on the ICDU.

ICDU Firmware
PostPosted: Thu Feb 26, 2004 12:13 pm     Reply with quote

When you install the latest version of ICDU software the file:

icdfirmware-01-20.fw

is installed in the PICC directory, therefore 1.20 is the latest version and is included in the ICDU software.

ICDU is found here:

firmware
PostPosted: Fri Feb 27, 2004 6:17 pm     Reply with quote

Hi dyeatman

It seems my problem coming from firmware version,
in icd.exe folder 1.20 and the one get on my icd 1.15.

Why, i said 1.15 because when i start the pcwh 3.168
it is write 1.15 in firmware. In my laptop 1.20 firmware.

Could you explain me why?
or do you understand it something.

I expect, i do not understand firmware version.
on icd.

Thanks
Steph
